Concept Generator 1: What You Are Good At
| Hot: |
Build a list of twenty things you are good at. Do not think very hard over this. Perhaps you are good at purchasing gifts for people – you have a knack for picking out just the right gift. Perhaps you are a expert cook, or a skillful parent, or a good jogger or a practiced tennis player. Or perhaps you used to be good at 1 or many of these things. For instance: I grew up with dogs, and owned dogs for many years. I’m good with dogs. If I determined a breach in the market for a dog book, I would feel easy writing the book.
You get the concept. List at minimum twenty things that you are adept at, or have been good at before. For instance, if you know you are a superior gardener, even though you at present reside an apartment, list “horticulture”.
Concept Generator 2: Your previous experiences.
Experiences sell. If you have been kidnapped by little green men from the Red Planet, it is a book. If you are a bigamist, it is a book. Individuals have composed books about their sicknesses, their dependencies, and their pets. Browse through the bestseller titles to determine what personal experiences individuals are writing about.
Here is where you stroll down memory lane. If you are in your 20’s, it will be a short stroll. If you are in your 40’s or older, it can be a hike. Do not get bogged down on this, list twenty experiences you have had that come to mind.
The simplest way to come up with experiences is to operate backwards through the phases of your lifetime, or by decades. Once again, do not take a extended period time over this. Limit yourself a time restraint — 10 minutes is enough.
Concept Generator 3: Your knowledge
What do you know? Begin by creating a list of all the topics you were skillful at from school. Then list all the occupations you have had – yes, irregular work matters.
Likewise list:
* Your spare-time activities. Are you an acute Chihuahua breeder? Do you sew? Take photos?
* Your latest job. What are you learning on your job that others would invest to learn?
* The places you have resided. Your hometown perhaps may be uninteresting to you, only guide books sell well.
* Your genealogy. What specialized knowledge do your closest and dearest relatives have that you can write about?
Spend about ten minutes putting down as many topics as you possess knowledge on.
Concept Generator 4: What you enjoy most.
Celebrity chef Lawson freely acknowledges that she cooks because she enjoys to eat. Lawson has turned her passion of food into a vocation. She regularly develops popular books. (Her chocolate recipes are impressive.) What do you have a passion for? Individuals have written on garage/yard sales, make-up, automobiles, holidays. If you love something, probabilities are that 1000’s or perhaps 1000000’s of other people will love it also.
Observe the papers and take note of ongoing trends. Or better yet, listen to what your youngsters are discussing, or asking you to purchase for them. Youngsters tend to be on top of what is going on.
Remember that it can take close to 2 years for your book to reach the bookshops. Consequently, the presently hot topics on the bestselling lists can be old news prior to your book getting in the stores. This does not imply of course that you can not write about perennial favorites like cash, sexuality and exercising. These subjects never go out of fame, and afresh twist on 1 of these is forever a sure bet.
The concept of writing on what you enjoy is that you’ll be adding passion and exuberance to your subject. Exuberance is a must.
